A day of rest (and air-conditioning challenges)

We were up and out early to get to the garage recommended by Romeo, to get the air-conditioning re-gassed. It was 10 minutes away and we arrived just after 8am. After a false start, with someone who didn’t speak English, I spoke to a younger person who confirmed they could do it in about half an hour. We took the dogs off for a little walk and ended up in McDonalds, that typically Italian eatery. We had a coffee and croissant to while away the time and returned to a fixed van and a reasonable €50 cost. We then drove to Conad for their car wash, and as every day is a school day we learnt the machine accepts tokens (bought at an adjacent machine) not coins. The van got a pre soak, foam and rinse and is looking much better. We then took a quick sprint round the Conad shop for bread and other bits before heading for home, in cool, air-conditioned luxury, to chill for the rest of the day at home.

We did take the dogs out down the path at the back of our garden to the waterfall and Roman bridge. Winnie kept disappearing in to the woods either side of the path, only to appear 100m further up. She also found, with unnerving predictability, a way down to the water.

Tonight we will prepare the van and pack all unneeded bits ready for travel day tomorrow. We have a middling three and a half hour journey to Lago Di Trassimo, which is, at last, slap bang in the middle of all the interesting towns and villages I pinned on Google Maps during my 3 months or so of research. We are aiming for a lake-side site, that scores over 8 (we assume 8 means it will be ok) within walking distance of a medieval village, so have high hopes.
