Langkawi. Even in paradise, accidents can happen.

Pubblicato: 08.01.2019

24 December 2018: After sleeping in, we rented scooters and went to a Western restaurant owned by a German proprietor.

Decoration in the hostel.

Then we took the scooters to the highest mountain on the island, Gunung Raya.

.

Monkeys everywhere.

.

Then I recommended Domi and Benedikt to visit the tropical fruit farm. In the picture here are many pineapple plants. It actually started raining when we arrived at the farm. Perfect timing, we were undercover until the tour started.

.

Passion fruit.

This was a nut tree. Either peanut or cashew, I don't remember exactly.

.

Many deer.

Four weeks ago this was not fenced off. I was bitten by mosquitoes up there. At least now there is this completely safe barrier. After that, we went to the beach. And again, as we left and returned to the hostel, it started raining. Perfect timing for the second time today.

Back to the same restaurant. Real bread!!!

And in the evening, we had a cocktail.

25 December 2018: Lunch. Pasta with pesto and lots of cheese. Yesterday it was already funny there. She asked us if we wanted more cheese. We said yes. She came with a small bowl with very little in it. Suddenly she pulled out more from behind her back. The joke of the day! Tip secured. We laughed so hard. She did the same thing with bread in the following days. The service was always amusing.

Then an older man from Germany intercepted us. He bought beer for the four of us (Marvin arrived last night). I wasn't thrilled and reluctantly went along with the group. Klaus moved here and now has a house on the island. His wife left him. Understandable. He drinks like a fish and smelled unpleasant. That's why I didn't want to go with him. But peer pressure and all. Fortunately, he had something else to do in the evening, so our paths diverged. Here in the picture is an old shipwreck. I always find things like that interesting.

Mega interesting even! Just like the airplanes back in Bangkok.

And a lighthouse.

At this harbor.

Run towards freedom!

.

And in the evening, we went to a bar.

26 December 2018: Slept longer again and then went to the Seven Walls, a great waterfall for swimming. Here was a monkey that was happy about the stolen coconut.

.

And removing the coconut flesh with the teeth.

And eating. See the video too!

And dinner! With squid :).

28 December 2018: Breakfast.

With really delicious rolls.

Now for the misfortune. Benedikt and I rented a jet ski. The key is attached to the vest, so it goes off if you fall into the water. Well, we fell into the water. Key not properly attached. Uh yeah. Lost the key in the open sea. Jet ski won't start anymore. I swam 800 m to the mainland. No one spoke English. It worked at a boat rental. We rescued Benedikt. He had drifted far away to the rocks. He had his toes stuck and broken between the jet ski and the rocks. Hospital, cast, and crutches for him now. Fortunately, I had a lucky escape. Compared to him, my abrasions on my arms, legs, and feet were relatively mild.

28 December 2018: We changed hostels today. The new area looked so beautiful. Benedikt wasn't feeling well accordingly. We got him crutches at noon.

Had some company in the garden of the hostel in the evening. No pictures on the 29th.

Langkawi. Even in paradise, accidents can happen.
