We had a really cool AirBnB for accommodation in the city of Fresno, which is located between Sequoia National Park and our next destination, San Francisco. The whole house was full of antiques, looked like a big museum and we had a spacious room. There was also a well-equipped shared kitchen, a large living room and a garden with a barbecue. The best thing about it: on the first night we were the only guests - apart from two cats - and so we had the whole house to ourselves 😁. We had a nice, relaxing evening, cooked and watched a few climbing films about “El Capitan” in Yosemite National Park, which had fascinated us so much.
The next day, after a late breakfast, we relaxed and went to Sequoia National Park. This is named after the huge sequoia trees that shoot up in many places due to the perfect conditions for them. We even drove the car through a fallen tree that had been cut free. You could walk around on another fallen tree trunk and marvel at the huge roots. Finally, we drove to the largest tree in the world in terms of volume: the “General Sherman”. In fact, it didn't seem to stand out among all the other huge trees, but at 84m high and 11m in diameter it really is a big deal. Its thickest branch alone has a diameter of 2m! After our little coffee trip we went back to our great accommodation, where we grilled something delicious and ended the day.
We're now heading to the coast to San Francisco!
