At the 'Pal Dua' terminal, the bus was finally full and it started towards Girian. After about an hour, we arrived there and had to get off. The usual bunch of taxi drivers were waiting outside. "Taxi, taxi, taxi, sir?" One of them managed to catch our attention and offered us (I was traveling with the Australians) his taxi. It took us another hour to get to Batu Putih. When we arrived there, it was clear that it was off-season. There was nothing happening and nothing to find. The best part here was the black beach and the 'Tongkoko National Park', which I will visit the next day. I looked for something to eat or even a restaurant, but had no luck! I settled for an instant noodle soup for the time being. I asked if I could use the wifi at the neighboring resort, but the answer was no, only for guests. What a very friendly welcome.
Early in the morning the next day, or rather at 5:30 am, the guide arrived and we started our hike in the 'Tongkoko National Park'. It was a grueling 5-hour hike. There was a lot to see, including very relaxed and friendly black macaques, 2 kingfishers (beautiful colorful birds), and a beautiful jungle. The highlight was supposed to be the local 'Tarsier' (mini monkey), but unfortunately, you can only see it on another hike in the evening. At that point, I had already decided to make my way to Tomohon. So no tarsier this time.
