20.05./21.05. After a short night in Vancouver, after all, we were out with Susi until 1 a.m., we packed our car again and met Susi for a last coffee at the Pacific. After taking over a half-empty backpack from her and looking for cassettes for our car radio at Value Village, we started around 3:00 p.m. into the Rockies. Gradually, we drove up to about 2000m on quiet highways. Driving near the abyss, we had breathtaking views of deep canyons, high snow-covered mountains, and crystal-clear lakes. We had made the absolutely right decision to drive towards Kelowna.
We spent the night in the parking lot of Walmart, as all campsites were fully booked due to the long weekend. And we weren't the only backpackers. Bella was still a little uneasy sleeping at Walmart. But everything went smoothly. The next morning we drove to the beach in Kelowna and had breakfast there. Since Kelowna has little to offer except wine, hotels, and industrial areas, we saddled up Jim Bob and continued our journey through the Rocky Mountains.
