Farewell in Kuala Lumpur

Pubblicato: 05.01.2018

We spent our last days together in Kuala Lumpur. To fully enjoy the time, we booked an entire apartment through Air bnb for the second time, in a huge residential complex with 37 floors, its own supermarket, gym, and our absolute highlight, the incredible 'Rooftop pool'!!!

When we took the elevator to the 37th floor for the first time and the elevator doors opened, we could hardly believe our eyes. Behind the pool, we were greeted with a gigantic view of the entire city. Absolutely amazing!!

However, I had imagined the city a bit differently... more colorful, cheerful, and charming. Instead, I found it rather dull, noisy, and uncomfortable. We explored the city by subway!!! Kuala Lumpur is the first Asian city, after China, to have a subway again=) We visited the famous Batu Caves, the Petronas Towers, and of course, Chinatown. By now, the Christmas madness had also broken out here and all the department stores were decorated so colorfully and elaborately. There were entire landscapes with small decorated huts, Santa Clauses, and everything your heart desires. But real Christmas atmosphere at 30 degrees in a foreign country just didn't arise, even though we knew we would spend Christmas at home.

We strolled through the shops and finally, Jonas' big moment had come: foot care!!! Some of you may know those little fish that nibble off the calluses on your feet. Since Jonas had successfully avoided it in Thailand (apparently it was too expensive there), there was no turning back now. Jonas laughed his head off because it must tickle incredibly, and for some reason, just the sight of it made me feel nauseous. I would have rather gone diving with sharks again than even dipping a small toe into that pool!!! Yuck=)

The next day, it was time to say goodbye to Asia. Even though the Asians and their strange habits annoyed me a lot over time, I think we will miss them a little. And I'm sure that one day we will make a stop somewhere again.

At the airport, there was a big surprise and the final highlight. I just decided that this deserves its own entry!!=)
