Last day on the Caribbean coast (18.02.2022)

A slight melancholy is in the air, today is actually the last "real" Costa Rica day. Breakfast was outstanding just like yesterday, and besides the great room, beach, and wildlife on the hotel grounds, it made the decision easy for us to choose this hotel as our favorite hotel of the Costa Rica trip. Unfortunately, it was heavily cloudy and rainy today, so a proper "beach day" as we had in mind had little charm. However, the day was very entertaining with reading, walking, writing blog posts, and drinking cocktails. In the afternoon, we took a short detour to a hippie-eco café on the road, among spiders, and I made myself comfortable with a smoothie and a vegan cheesecake, well, at least I did, Kathi was distracted elsewhere...

In the evening, we found a small restaurant "treasure" called Sol del Caribe: (https://www.facebook.com/Restaurantesoldelcaribe2222). In an authentic atmosphere and with extremely friendly staff, we had one of the best dinners of the entire vacation. I have rarely seen Kathi so satisfied so far ;-).

Tomorrow, we have a 5-hour drive to the capital San José, or more precisely to the airport hotel. Based on the experience of the drive here, good nerves and diverse podcasts & music playlists are required.

Insight of the day: As mentioned before, the Caribbean coast is a bit rainier when it comes to weather, and we were able to witness that today despite the "dry season". What was noticeable is that suddenly a lot of spiders appeared, we're not quite sure if it's related to the rain...

Happiest moment: Farewell cocktail "Coco Loco" at the hotel for a successful trip. Coco Loco is coconut milk, coconut water, and vodka served in a coconut. Simple but very good 😋.
