Ferry trip to the end of the world

It takes 4 days to travel by ship from Puerto Montt, the gateway to Chilean Patagonia, to Puerto Natales, the penultimate city on the mainland of the American continent. The journey takes you through the Aysén region, which consists mainly of channels, fjords and islands and is completely uninhabited except for a small village in the middle (60 inhabitants).

In addition, you have to cross a part of the open Pacific, which temporarily causes quite rough weather conditions.

Since we were incredibly lucky with the weather (it only rained on 2 out of 4 days, according to the crew a real rarity), we were able to experience a beautiful sunrise, observe various marine animals such as seals, dolphins and penguins, and even once recognize the edge of the Patagonian ice field, the largest in the world after Antarctica and Greenland (the ice wall shown in the picture is 150 m high!).
