After not even 24 hours in modernity (how beautiful and diverse is Tashkent, please?!), I continued my journey to the semi-modern city of Samarkand by train: famous for its Silk Road flair, with many beautiful mosques in a large old town, slightly hilly and surrounded by modern and Soviet charm. Even though I had enough of visiting mosques and seeing the oppressive splendor from the inside, I was very impressed by the versatility of the city.
