Saturday was our last day in Hoi An. Originally, we had planned for five nights until Friday. The flight from Danang to Hanoi was booked for Sunday, leaving us with two nights we could have spent in Danang. Given the rainy weather, we questioned: What do we want to do for two days in a rainy big city? In a hotel that we don’t know if we’ll like? Our room in Hoi An is fantastic, 50 m², with a balcony and a view of the pool. It’s also bearable to spend a rainy day here. The local spots have great Vietnamese!!! beer that tastes good even with wet feet. And the drive from here to the airport only takes an hour. On impulse, we decided to extend our stay in Hoi An for two nights.

The last day then turns out to be completely different - as is often the case. The weather seems stable in the morning, so we rent a moped once more and head to the coast. We check out the stretch of beach where we had considered staying for a few days. We realize once again how bleak and lonely it would have been there. And that it was a good choice not to come here. And since we had already driven a bit towards Danang, we simply continue driving - straight ahead, it’s only 25 kilometers.

On the way to Danang, we stop several times at public beaches located between luxury hotel complexes. Somewhere halfway, the famous city beach Danang Beach begins - at least that’s what the names of the hotels we pass by promise. And the closer we get to Danang, the cleaner and more well-kept it becomes. There are evidently significant efforts being made to contain pollution and destruction. From the devastating storm surge just a few weeks ago, there is nothing to be seen at Danang Beach, just a few kilometers away from the completely ruined beach of Hoi An.

We have a photoshoot, continue to the harbor bridge, and treat ourselves to a coffee on the promenade of Danang Beach, returning early to Hoi An before potentially being caught in rain as the sky darkens.

Danang hat uns beim Durchfahren Richtung Hoi An sehr gut gefallen. Bei uns war das Wetter allerdings auch regnerisch. Gibt es dort nicht diese Drachenbrücke?
