Fehmarn
The sunny island in the Baltic Sea
to breathe in some sea air and recharge our batteries, we spent a lovely week in Fehmarn.
The Baltic Sea island with maritime flair invites you to stay. The natural surroundings awaken the senses.
Extensive walks on the beach or in the nature reserves or cozy tours through the picturesque landscape – Fehmarn offers countless opportunities to let your soul unwind.
In Fehmarn, part of the crime series “Nord bei Nordwest” is filmed in Orth. During the shooting, the harbor town in the southwest of the island transforms into the fictional place Schwanitz.
Sights such as churches and museums, lighthouses, and of course the landmark, the Fehmarn Sound Bridge, can also be found on the island.
The center of the island is the town of Burg with its narrow streets, cobblestones, and old half-timbered houses. Small shops, restaurants, cafés, and bars surround the marketplace in the old town.
We spent the week at a campsite near the nature reserve 'Nördliche Seeniederung Fehmarn'.
The nature reserve, consisting of three sections, is located in the north of Fehmarn and stretches along the coastal area. In the northeast, it borders the nature reserve 'Grüner Brink' and on the other side, the 'Wasservogelreservat Wallnau'.
