In October, we went on our last trip of the year with the camper before it goes into hibernation.

In Goslar, the thousand-year-old imperial city in Harz, you can experience an exciting time travel from the Middle Ages to the present. Where once emperors and kings ruled, today it is a lively city with picturesque streets and squares perfect for strolling, lingering, shopping, enjoying, and relaxing.

The special atmosphere of Goslar is evident during a stroll through the Old Town, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site. In addition to impressive buildings from various epochs, churches, and half-timbered houses, there are works by contemporary artists from around the world. Historical buildings, such as the Great Holy Cross, now provide space for craftsmen to pursue their creative work.

The imperial palace of Goslar is perhaps the most visited sight in the city. The imperial house is the largest and best-preserved secular building of the 11th century. It served as a preferred residence for the Salian emperors.

The Goslar Cathedral is the former collegiate church of St. Simon and Judas in Goslar. It was built between 1040 and 1050, was part of the district of the imperial palace, and was demolished between 1819 and 1822. Today only the northern cathedral porch remains.

The ancestral home of the industrial family Siemens on Schreiberstraße, built in 1693 by merchant and town mayor Hans Siemens, is one of the largest and best-preserved townhouses in Goslar.

The market fountain is regarded as one of the most significant bronze castings from the Romanesque period and is the largest and oldest preserved market fountain of Romanesque style in Germany.

There is indeed so much to discover in this city of Harz that you always find something new.
