How does that work? Just a play on words! Communism and Confucianism are omnipresent in Vietnam.
For over seventy years, since the liberation from French colonialism, the Communist Party has governed Vietnam. Posters calling for solidarity with the Party as well as the workers' and peasants' state can repeatedly be found in the streets. Some of you may remember this.
Nevertheless, the number of temples, shrines, and other religious sites is significantly greater and literally found on almost every street. Buddhism and Taoism prevail. The more than 50 ethnic groups in Vietnam also follow numerous folk religions. It is often observed that people - for example at the market - cleanse their workplace outdoors with incense sticks.
