Christchurch: Rain, fog, and chill at 10 degrees, sunny at 20 degrees in the afternoon
At seven o'clock, wake-up call: The bad weather didn’t really motivate us to get up, but what can we do? The South Island is waiting for us. After a few hours, the situation improved and we were even able to take off our first jacket when we took the gondola to Mount Cavendish. The view from the top was breathtaking; the expanse and the beautiful untouched landscape. Then we continued to Christchurch where we enjoyed a punting trip on the Avon River at a sunny 20 degrees, passing the Botanical Garden and the many grasses, shrubs, and trees. We can understand why everyone falls in love with New Zealand. New Zealand is home to 5 million people, 25 million sheep, and 10 million cattle – isn't that just amazing? Now we headed to downtown Christchurch, an impressive city, especially with everything they have rebuilt after the earthquake of 2010 and the aftershock of 2011. The last picture with the quote says it all.
