Port Elizabeth, South Africa: sunny 19 degrees

Since Port Elizabeth is not very safe, we booked a guided city tour. Upon leaving the harbor, we passed a 52-meter high monument, the Bell Tower. Along the promenade, we reached the suburb of Summerstrand, a very popular seaside area. From there, we continued to the campus of Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and the Donkin Memorial, a stone pyramid built in memory of Sir Rufane Donkin's wife. We continued to Fort Frederick, the Duke of York. The last destination was the Nelson Mandela Stadium. Unfortunately, the old town is very neglected and everything is falling apart, which is really a shame. We also noticed that we did not see any children, mothers, or elderly people on the streets. We saw many students, but only those with wealthy parents can afford a degree. The crime rate in this city is very high, and one should only go into the city in larger groups. Our conclusion: we will never visit this city again. Today we are at sea, and tomorrow we will anchor in Cape Town.
