Mystery Island, Vanuatu, also known as the island of Anajom.
Vanuatu consists of 83 islands, 2 active volcanoes, the capital Port Vila, and has a population of around 2 million, with over 100 different languages, and has been independent since 1980.
Mystery Island is permanently uninhabited, was once a ceremonial and sacrificial island for the gods, and today serves as a starting point for visiting Anajom Island.
Visiting Anajom Island provides insight into the history and lives of the inhabitants. The island has about 2000 residents who primarily depend on agriculture and fishing. The tribe living on the island were cannibals until the mid-19th century. The people maintain a very close connection to nature, which takes precedence over everything else.
