After spending the morning on Ambrym, we have now arrived at Pentecost Island. Although it is significantly smaller than Ambrym, it has a considerably larger population of around 17,000 inhabitants. This is likely due to the volcano and the associated large barren areas.
Of course, we were able to observe the vine jumpers. This is apparently an old tradition that is only practiced in April and May and serves as an initiation rite. It is considered the origin of bungee jumping.
