42. Day Pape'ete, Tahiti 01.05.2026

Arrival in Pape'ete, the capital of Tahiti, and summer is here with 30° and plenty of sunshine.
French Polynesia consists of 1127 islands with a total population of 290,000, of which Tahiti alone has 165,000 residents. Thus, Tahiti is the most important island of French Polynesia, also known as the Society Islands.
We immediately embark from the capital Pape'ete by ferry to the neighboring island of Moorea. The volcanic island of Moorea is hilly, green, and very fertile, with plantations of pineapples, bananas, taro, etc. Practically everything is manually cultivated and without synthetic fertilizers (since they are legally prohibited). Instead, the sea provides natural fertilizer through seaweed.
Notably mentioned is the 'Noni' fruit, whose juice is considered a very effective medicine against a large number of health issues (though the fruit has a very strong and pungent smell).
In one river, you could get up close with freshwater eels (lured with raw fish).
There are also plenty of great viewpoints like the Belvedere de OPUNOHU and beautiful beaches such as those at Cook Bay.
