The early bird is on our side, we are on our way to Canal d'amour, hoping to enjoy it with few tourists. On the way, we visit Paleokastritsa Monastery, which is said to be very beautiful and the view is wonderful. We drive uphill with our Anti-Carlos and listen to the Christian songs when we arrive. We don't dare to go inside the church, as we feel we are not appropriately dressed, but we always enjoy looking at cats and donkeys.

The drive to the north towards the Channel of Love is hilly, but it works fine in first or second gear. We quickly realize that we have to pass through a classic tourist spot, and despite the Corona, there are still quite a few visitors. However, there are not many people at the channel when we arrive, and that's good because the actual beach is not crowded. But what is Canal d'amour? For Corfu, Canal d'amour is a wonderful place that plays an important role in the love of women for a man. If a woman from Corfu desires a man to be her husband, it is said that swimming through the "Channel of Love" will surely entice him to make a marriage promise. The channel must be crossed from left to right while lying in its shadow. The rock formations are unique and we are fascinated by them, so we stay a bit longer and Dercia goes for a swim. But when it gets too hot and crowded, we leave the area and go for a meal. Finally, we have Greek salad. However, I have to say that my allergy symptoms, with coughing and a runny nose, are getting worse. We still dare to visit the soooo empty mountain village of Liopades (we only see 8 other people) and treat ourselves to cake and pita, but then we call it a day. I go to bed (https://abnb.me/MeULTm1XP8 ), Dercia brings me some tea and we hope that tomorrow will be better.

Yes, it is better. The alarm clock rings at 5 o'clock (otherwise we would have been woken up by the cicadas or the rooster) because we want to leave at 6 o'clock and drive to Dassia. We have an appointment with Eva, she will practice yoga with us at sunrise. Half asleep, we get into the car... and oops. This stupid driveway is so narrow and unlit that there is a huge scratch (to put it mildly) on Anticarlos' door. I am furious, and now a warning light is also on, but we have to go. Calls to the insurance company will follow later!

Instead of Eva, Sean welcomes us at the beach. He is originally from Zimbabwe, lived in England for a long time, but recently moved to Greece with his girlfriend Eva.

Sean learned yoga in Thailand and India and now practices it, among other activities, on Corfu (https://abnb.me/uf1i2nZXP8)

We have a yoga session with just the three of us, there are no other participants, and the beach is empty while we practice yoga as the sun rises... it's indescribable. We practice opening, stretching, and light asanas, and we feel very comfortable with our teacher.

In the end, we go to a cafΓ© (https://www.foodyas.com/GR/Corfu/106395837620033/IL-CAFFE), where we can eat whatever we want (it's included in the price). Dercia and I decide to have spinach pie and feta pie, two Greek delicacies. We laugh and talk a lot, Sean is surprised when he finds out how old we are (super side note: I am always mistaken for being younger, and Dercia for being older πŸ˜…).

It is quite possible that on our last evening we will go to a yoga class at sunset...

Now it's time to go into the water, it's almost 9 o'clock in the morning, the beach is almost empty, and we refresh ourselves. It feels good!

Afterwards, we drive to the mountain village (which is so deserted) Lakones, which is only 3 km from our accommodation. Lakones is mainly known for its breathtaking view of the Ionian Sea, and we are not disappointed. The only thing that takes some getting used to is that there is no water in the cafΓ© toilet, but that's the case almost everywhere on Corfu, and it's common not to flush toilet paper.

It's evening and we go back to the Monastery, and later for dinner. We want real Greek food. Our walk takes us to The Greek Way (https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g776017-d6993855-r230806909-The_Greek_Way-Paleokastritsa_Corfu_Ionian_Islands.html)

No vegetarian pita? They don't have it. But they still invite us to come in and they will prepare something special for us. And the vegetarian pita is amazing, as well as my meatless moussaka and garlic bread. Oh my! I love it. The waitress loves Dercia and keeps hugging her πŸ˜…. As a treat, we also get some watermelon and figs! Fresh, I don't even know what it is, so I ask and get to know my first fresh fig. Amazing! The owner of the tavern, a former dancer with a table in his mouth, tells us so many interesting things and words of wisdom. But I am so full, and Dercia has to pull me up the hill to our house. Greece, you are beautiful!
