Today, my alarm rang at 4:00 AM. I wanted to catch the 5:15 AM train in Schaffhausen, which I did. I knew it would be very hot again today, though not as hot as 38 degrees like last time. My backpack was almost as heavy as if I would be hiking for weeks in the distance. My plan was to possibly include an overnight stay for the first time to continue to Rapperswil the next day.
So at 6:30 AM, I set off towards Pfäffikon (ZH) on flat terrain. Today, I couldn't find my rhythm, and strangely, I felt a tremendous heat within me right from the start. The energy from last time was also missing. So, I trudged along, step by step, with the Kyburg behind me. A beautiful sight! After an hour, I occasionally looked around for a bench where I could take a break and have my sandwich for breakfast. But there was nothing. Even hours later, it was as if cursed. Almost the entire path of this leg passes through unshaded agricultural land and small villages. Actually a lovely route between fields, but for some reason, I couldn't enjoy it. There were no deep philosophical thoughts, no special perceptions, and certainly no exciting encounters – and definitely no saving bench in the shade. Just mindless walking.
