We were invited by our future landlords to celebrate Midsummer in Sweden. A wonderful opportunity to experience how the Swedes live and to see if cohabitation could be possible.
The Scots we had already met in December on Palawan were also invited, so there was a cheerful greeting right at the airport.
After a two-hour drive from Copenhagen to Halmstad, we arrived at a small, charming brick house with a garden.
For the next few days, Viktor, a friend of the Swedes, spent time with us, and additional guests were invited for the Midsummer celebration. We got to know all the Macaja (name of the resort) members or former members. Everyone was very warm, and there was plenty to eat and drink. One shareholder, slightly tipsy, promised to cook original Swedish meatballs in the Philippines... We're curious.
From Jhed, I also learned how to cook Adobo and Pancit, and I tried my hand at rolling spring rolls, with mediocre success.
We started the highest holiday of the Swedes, Midsummer, by picking flowers to later weave into wreaths as hair decorations, and around two o'clock we set off to the Maypole. Maypoles are distributed throughout each neighborhood so that everyone can easily participate in the festivities on foot.
