The least strenuous stage first: so driving to Millingen am Niederrhein, then switching to Klaus' car, who took Nobby and me to Eindhoven Airport.

The flight was on time, we arrived in Rome around 8 PM, then took the train into the city, checked into a hotel room - a real dive by my standards, and then went to one of the many restaurants in the train station district behind Termini, a neighborhood that lives up to its reputation.

Tomorrow morning we will continue by train to the actual start.

We are already looking forward to the next day, to the first stage of this year's tour from Assisi to Rome.
