Two days of sun, sand, and beach

In the past two days, we have thoroughly enjoyed beach life. For me, two or three hours are enough – with an espresso in one of the bars in between, maybe a small ice cream to go with it, and that’s about it.

Icke is quite different. She is made for the beach: a chat here, a little gossip there, an occasional visit to the towel dealer next door or to the jewelry seller on the other side – and finally, a thorough massage from Alina, who she now considers almost family.

The farewell tomorrow will be especially hard, particularly from Martin and Angelika, with whom we have spent this week here. It was nice with the two Lörrach residents from the Black Forest – uncomplicated, relaxed, simply rejuvenating. And we received many good tips for our onward journey from Angelika. She loves Italy and knows many beautiful spots in Tuscany that are not yet overrun by tourists.

On a whim, we decided to stay until Monday and then set off together: for Angelika and Martin, it’s back home, and for us, it’s southeast – to Montalcino, where we want to stop. Perhaps we'll also take the little detour over Capalbio near Grosseto, where the famous Tarot Garden with the fantastic sculptures by the artist Niki de Saint Phalle is located.
