On Christmas, we celebrated in a large group at Foxten Beach. Together, we booked an Airbnb from December 23 to December 27 with 20 people. Of the 20 people, I only knew 4 beforehand, which made it even better that everyone was very relaxed, funny, and cool.
We had a nice time, even though it didn't feel very Christmassy. The most Christmas-like thing was our plastic Christmas tree; I think that says it all.
Despite the rather low Christmas spirit, we did a Secret Santa exchange on the evening of the 24th after we had a cool soccer match on the beach with the perfect sunset. Highlights included a full-body suit, a McDonald's bag, little pins, shot glasses, and more. Before that, we grilled and enjoyed a delicious pasta salad. I missed the carp just as much as the potato salad.
My highlight this year was my homemade fruit salad.
We spent the remaining days visiting the beach, playing games, and drinking. Beer pong, Kings Cup, and Liar were very popular. One afternoon, we also played soccer tennis with five people, which was also a real blast, as grandma would say.
It would be a different experience, but under these circumstances, it was a very successful Christmas. Now, I'm just in Wellington and looking forward to being the first to welcome the New Year 2025 tomorrow.
