At the End of the 643

Today, we drove up the east coast of the Westfjords almost to the end of the road. It’s about 85 km from Drangsnes, all gravel road, so around 170 km round trip. We’ve seen many impressive landscapes so far, but this section has been absolutely the best.

Of course, we stopped numerous times along the way, and on the return trip in Nordurfjoerdur, we visited the harbor, and in Djupavik, we explored the shipwreck and the old, half-ruined factory of a whaling station. The location is right below a very high waterfall. In the factory hall, there were some art installations exhibited. An interesting contrast.
