Day 7: Yoho National Park

Today, just like always so far, the weather was perfect, and we set off early towards Yoho National Park.

First, we headed to Emerald Lake, essentially an alternative to the overcrowded Lake Louise or Moraine Lake. Yet, by the time we arrived at 10:00 AM, the official (free) parking lot was already full. However, we found a spot within walking distance. Accordingly, there were already a few people around – but it was still manageable. What was definitely money well spent was the canoe trip. Since there were only a limited number of canoes and the lake was quite large, we could enjoy the view and tranquility on the turquoise water. Even the teenage companions appreciated that. Quote: 'So far, this has been the best part of this vacation.'

For lunch, we went to the only restaurant in the only town nearby, Field. Once again, we were pleasantly surprised: No tourist trap with burgers and fries, but a cozy restaurant with a unique menu. Thai curry, pecorino pasta, but of course also smoked ribs, etc. It was super delicious.

On the way home, we thought: Let's stop by Lake Louise briefly since it was already early evening and the lake was on the way. However, even at 5:30 PM, they still wanted to charge us the full daytime parking fee of $42. So we decided to skip that and headed back to Banff to pack. Because the journey continues tomorrow...
