Den Helder, Netherlands

This morning we were awakened by very light rain, but it wasn't too bad since we wanted/needed to leave anyway. After packing everything together, we set off at 9 o'clock towards Del Herden. Here, there is a motorhome pitch at the harbor which seems to be quite popular and is usually occupied by midday.

So we drove over the dike to the sea. Upon arriving in Del Herde, we actually found the last spot available that day. It is a typical motorhome pitch, paved and with one motorhome next to another, but that's okay; we only need a sleeping place for the next 2 nights. The places here are quite affordable, only €17 per night for each motorhome so far. However, they are all without electricity, which we don't need anyway.

What we have noticed since arriving at the coast is that the majority of Italians seem to be spending their vacation here; there are also some Italians at this site.

Den Helder is a port city, which you can tell; there isn't much to see and the Dutch charm is somewhat lacking, but the dike is really beautiful for walking.

After exploring the town, we rode our bikes towards Julianadroop and Callantsoog. Right along the dunes, it was really nice. In Callantsoog, there was delicious ice cream, thanks Rocco for the tip, and on the way back, we had fish and chips. Ah, the bacon maggots are alive again (little wink to Fuxi).

We returned through the towns, which was nice to explore a bit of the area. After 40km, we were back at the weekend and ended the evening quietly. Tonight, it is a bit cooler in the evening, but also pleasant.
