Day 5 we are heading to Texel

However, by bike and ferry. Bobby stays at the camper site.

Andi was able to buy the ferry tickets online beforehand, which was obviously great for him. Oh yes, the ferry was supposed to leave at 10:30 AM, and we were at the ferry at 10:29 AM. That was a perfect arrival. And then there were so many people on that ferry. But even for the 15-minute crossing, there is a large onboard bistro. We really only stood briefly on deck before we went back to our bikes to disembark from the ferry.

Upon arriving in Texel, we first organized ourselves and avoided running over anyone standing in the way. We then headed towards Oudeschild, as going directly to Den Burg would have been quite boring. In Oudeschild, we had a stroopwafel. Oh, it was really delicious, warm and with caramel. Shortly after, I thought a Dutch lady was going to knock me off my bike because we briefly rode on the footpath. She really scolded us.

We continued to Den Burg, but the headwind was quite strong today.

Den Burg is lovely, sure, with a lot of people but still cute. A portion of kibbeling and salmon sandwich was a must.

On the way back, we took a detour towards the harbor and, of course, arrived just in time again, this time on a significantly emptier ferry back. When we arrived in Den Helder, there were again a lot of cars queued for the way to Texel; some had probably been waiting for 1-2 hours to board.

Actually, we wanted to visit the Marine Museum, but a friendly staff member told us at half-past three that it was hardly worth it now, as it takes a good 3-4 hours, and unfortunately, they close at 5 PM.

So, we went shopping for the first time in a Dutch supermarket, just to get something fresh again.

In the evening, we cooked and wound down for the day. It has been cloudy and windy since about 4 PM, and the temperatures have dropped, but that's actually pleasant.
