Today was a traveling day. We left around 07 and the goal for the day was to reach Turaco Treetops Lodge, a journey that was supposed to take about 7 hours but took just over nine. We took a shortcut that turned out to be a long way around. Think of a gravel road that is partially destroyed by rain.
Once we arrived in the village of Bigodi, we got to meet the Banana Man. He showed us how to make banana juice, beer, and gin. Everything was good except the gin at 60%.
After that, we visited a woman who grew nuts, vanilla, and coffee. She ground the coffee beans to separate the shells from the actual bean. Then she roasted the beans and ground them into coffee, which we got to drink. Very delicious.
Our stop for tonight is Turaco Tree Tops. A wonderful place with bungalows that have a balcony overlooking the forest.
We ended the evening with a nice dinner and white wine.
