Dream Tour Days Lake Garda Day 2
So many impressions overwhelmed us on our first vacation day. First, the wonderfully beautiful apartment in the Italian quarter of Desenzano del Garda with a view of the charming...

Breakfast in our beautiful apartment, the sun is shining from the blue sky, the car is rented, two apples bought at the farmer's market right outside our door, and off we go - up the western side of Lake Garda to Riva del Garda, there to the Grotta Cascata Varone, a waterfall in the mountains, an outing we are eagerly looking forward to.
The drive, with wonderful views of Lake Garda, went quite smoothly except for a minor hiccup - that hiccup was a wrong turn which led us, instead of on the road, onto a fifth-class path through a vineyard area 😳 barely passable, no turning back possible, so eyes closed and go through. It worked out, but it was an adventure!!! So don't always trust the GPS. 😏
The waterfall made up for everything. Admission is 7 euros plus 2.50 for raincoats, which are definitely necessary. Nice people later give them to those who think they can do without them 😜
So the waterfall or rather the waterfalls! Impressive, beautiful, very loud, with colors highlighted, mystical, great perspectives through the sunlight, and wet, very very wet!!! I can only recommend every Lake Garda traveler to come here, preferably in the morning hours, and calmly experience the beauty and untamed wildness of the water. For us, the outing was a highlight!
On the cozy way back, we stopped in Limone sul Garda, right by the lake. Very beautifully maintained, many flowers, many restaurants, many tourists, and for our taste, a bit too much of everything... at least to spend a vacation there. Go, stroll around, take a look, buy souvenirs, and then back to our quiet Italian Desenzano—much better! However, worth seeing there is the Limonaia del Castel, a museum with a tour about lemon cultivation, very informative and interesting, so do plan a bit more time for it.
And then we had the day behind us, there was a large wonderful salad in the bar on our street, then the indispensable ice cream at our Piazza and then back to the apartment, feet up, let the impressions sink in and — nothing more.
Insight of the day: Trust and confidence is sometimes the salvation (regarding the vineyard path)
