Dream tour days Lake Garda Day 4

So today it’s Verona!

By train, you can comfortably travel from Desenzano to Verona in about 30 minutes for just under 5 euros. That’s exactly what we did, planning to take a city tour, but we were too clueless to find the right bus, so we walked a piedi to the Arena. It’s located in a large beautiful square and has a great effect, standing there majestically and ancient, wanting to be marveled at and admired. We did just that😉.

Then we wandered through Verona, taking it easy and relaxed, strolling through the old streets without stress, admiring the squares, houses, alleys, and corners. There was always something to discover— Verona's cityscape embossed into the street, Richard Wagner as a cast-iron man high up on a balcony, the Casa di Giulietta with a crowd gathered to see the famous balcony. Further back, there were excavations to visit, then various gelaterias to explore, and finally, we had crossed the entire city and reached the banks of the beautiful green Etsch, with a view of bridges and villas on the other bank.

We also took a break in one of the nice street cafes. The wonderful thing about Italian hospitality is that with your Aperol or beer or whatever, you get a snack that is generally quite substantial and satisfies your biggest hunger... Such a thing should be introduced in Germany!!!

With tired feet, we then slowly made our way back to the train station, took the train back to Desenzano, then the bus to the Piazza, and there to our favorite bar for dinner—very! Delicious. The ice cream in the Piazza could certainly not be missed—I think it was number 3 today🫣

And then: feet up

Insight of the day: a lot of culture makes tired legs, but Verona is worth it!
