Florida Dream Tour Day 5

The morning after a hearty breakfast, we set out on the somewhat longer journey to Cape Coral. We had rented an entire house through Airbnb that we were very excited about. So, we packed up and hit the road.

Our route took us southeast towards the areas that Hurricane Milton had swept through. Even though our path was quite far from the storm zone, we could still see the damage that this massive storm had left behind. Roofs that were ripped off or poorly repaired, many uprooted trees, and bushes thrown around as if in a landscape. It must have been dreadful further up north, but thankfully, our route did not lead us there.

Along the way, we made the obligatory stop at McDonald's. We shared a small menu and then each had a milkshake—their milkshakes are incredibly good in the States, creamy and thick with plenty of whipped cream on top—once you've enjoyed one there, every milkshake in Germany feels inferior!😂

The drive was actually just like the one from Miami to Orlando—pretty monotonous. Wide roads, green fields on the sides, fenced residential areas—not much to see, so it gets boring rather quickly. To break the monotony, we made a stop at—Walmart-🤦‍♀️ we still needed groceries for breakfast and such. Plus, we planned to sit by our pool and drink a cocktail, so we spent some relaxing time in this giant discount store—much to my daughter's delight.

In the afternoon, we arrived in Cape Coral and quickly found our bungalow. This house was amazing—check out the pictures above. A huge living room, three bedrooms, a great kitchen—just look at the fridge 🤦‍♀️👍 everything was stylish and modern. A complete smart home, everything worked via remote control—the blinds, the air conditioning, the lights—we didn't even try everything since we weren't sure what all the remotes were for 😅.

And then this pool!! Right in front of the living room with a large covered terrace in front, an outdoor kitchen with a fridge, etc., a Weber grill, and in this pool, you could turn on jets and set up an umbrella in the water. The epitome of happiness—here, we never wanted to leave!!!

We really jumped into the pool that evening, but then we had Mac'n Cheese for dinner and a sundowner on this wonderful terrace.

Insight of the day: sometimes it just has to be luxury!
