Today we started early again: a short hike to the Cascade Falls Trail. The drive there was already a scenic highlight – pine forests, rock formations, and glimpses of the sparkling Lake Tahoe along the way.
The hike itself was quite short but rewarding. The view of the waterfall and the Cascade Lake below was simply fantastic. The path winds through rocks and trees, and at the end, you're rewarded with a stunning view – one of those places where you just stand still and marvel.
After the hike, we smoothly continued along the lake towards Meeks Bay. There we found a small café with delicious coffee and fresh bagels – the perfect refreshment after the hike. To top it off, we had a little ice cream, which of course tasted even better in the sun.
Back at the hotel, we swapped hiking shoes for swimwear and made ourselves comfortable by the shore of the lake. Doing nothing for a while, just soaking up the sun, enjoying the water, reading a book, and taking in the view – that’s exactly what we needed.
As hunger slowly set in, we decided to visit Sprouts Café – finally, a place with many vegetarian dishes. Fresh, creative, tasty – a real recommendation!
We took the rest of the day at a leisurely pace. We strolled a bit through South Lake Tahoe and then drove to Baldwin Beach to wind down the evening. The sunset there was breathtakingly beautiful – gentle waves, warm light, mountains in the background. A place we definitely want to return to one day with more time, swimwear, and a good book.
