Day 6 - Last Day at Lake Tahoe

Today, we actually managed to sleep in a bit – it seems that the fresh mountain air made us a little sleepy. 💤 After a quick breakfast, we packed our backpacks and set out for another hike.

Our destination: Eagle Lake, one of the most beautiful short trails in the area. The trail leads into the Desolation Wilderness, and before heading out, we had to fill out a little Registration Card at the starting point – with our names, destination, and date, so that in case of emergency, it is clear where we are. A small detail that reminded us briefly of the wilderness – especially since bears actually live in this area.

With a slightly uneasy feeling in our stomachs, we started, but within a few minutes, we noticed: The path is very popular and quite touristy. Soon we were in the midst of a breathtaking setting: The Eagle Falls rushed beside us, tall pines lined the path, and after about 3 km, we reached the clear, tranquil Eagle Lake, framed by gray granite walls. A scene straight out of a storybook.

After the hike, we drove to Baldwin Beach to enjoy the sun and the water one last time. The water was crystal clear – and icy cold. 🌊 We relaxed by the shore for two hours until the California sun gave us the first sunburn of our vacation.

In the afternoon, Marc went for a little workout at the gym. Afterwards, we took care of a more practical task: doing laundry at the local laundromat. Now all our clothes are fresh and clean – ready for the next adventure.

To end the day, we treated ourselves to dinner again at Sprouts Café – this time with Veggie Burger and Tuna Burrito. A perfect culinary ending to our stay here.

Lake Tahoe has impressed us – with its mix of mountains, beaches, and crystal clear water. Tomorrow we head to Lee Vining, right at the entrance to Yosemite National Park. We are excited to see what awaits us there.
