Today was all about film, glamour, and Hollywood flair – and we dove headfirst into the world of stars and starlets!

After a cozy breakfast at the Airbnb, we set off for the Hollywood Hills, our first destination: the world-famous Hollywood Sign. Of course, a stop at the Griffith Observatory was a must – especially for Marc, who had visited this place countless times in the game GTA. Finally standing there in person and seeing both the observatory and the sign with our own eyes was quite special.

We took a short hike toward the Hollywood lettering to get an even better view – under radiant sunshine with a fantastic panorama of Los Angeles. A sign warned of rattlesnakes (yes, really!), but fortunately, it was just a warning. 🐍

Back in the hustle and bustle of the city, we headed straight to Hollywood Boulevard. We strolled along the famous Walk of Fame, hopping from star to star and looking for familiar names – a bit like a treasure hunt among the palms. After about four kilometers on the boulevard, we took a well-deserved break at Shake Shack. Burgers, fries, soda – that was all we needed to be happy.

But the real highlight of the day was yet to come: a visit to the legendary El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, where the new film Freakier Friday is currently showing – the sequel to the cult classic Freaky Friday. Although the official premiere was already on Thursday, it still felt special for us to experience the film in this venerable cinema – complete with a small pre-show and seats on the balcony.

Especially nice: Freakier Friday referenced many places and experiences we encountered on our road trip – from the cliffs of Pismo Beach to the beach of Malibu and the small challenges with stop signs at intersections (we had a hearty laugh 😂😂). Perhaps that’s why we enjoyed the film so much – a piece of California on the screen that felt almost like our own adventure.

After this wonderfully successful day, we headed back to the Airbnb – fulfilled, tired, and curious about what LA has in store for us next.
