Today was the day to say goodbye – and it wasn’t easy for us at all. After several days in our cozy AirBnB in Santa Barbara, we packed our things for the last time, warmly said goodbye to our lovely host Vesla, and left this beautiful place behind. However, we were actually looking forward to more privacy. We were sharing the garden of the vacation house with the owner.
The drive to Los Angeles was fortunately quite relaxed and not too long. Especially convenient: On the way was Malibu – an absolute must-stop! There, we took a long beach walk at one of perhaps the most beautiful beaches in California. The sand was fine, the water turquoise, and around us: surfers as far as the eye could see. The waves were impressively high, and the sun provided perfect lighting for taking some great photos. At the Malibu Pier, we treated ourselves to a fruity smoothie before continuing on.
However, the closer we got to LA, the more visible were the traces of the wildfires from the beginning of the year. Entire blocks between Malibu and the city appeared to be wiped out – houses burned down, only foundations visible. A sobering sight.
Upon arriving in View Park, we were welcomed even more warmly: Our new host Vincent greeted us warmly. After a short break, we immediately headed to the laundromat to wash a few things thoroughly again. After that, we took care of grocery shopping for the last few days and filled up our rental car.
To conclude the day, we took a little walk through our new neighborhood. We took a liking to the quiet neighborhood right away – especially the view of the skyline of Downtown LA at sunset was simply breathtaking. We are looking forward to four exciting days in this fascinating metropolis!
