Back in time in Ayutthaya!
Today, the alarm went off early because we had a fun trip planned…. Ayutthaya!! The tuktuk took us this morning to the big bus station in Bangkok, where we then took a minibus...

We departed from Bangkok by night train to Chang Mai. Upon boarding, we could immediately climb into our beds; it took some getting used to, but what an experience this was!
After arriving in Chiang Mai, we were taken to our hotel by Mrs. Phun's tuk-tuk. We had the whole day to relax, and the kids enjoyed swimming in the pool. On Day 2, we had a lovely cycling tour planned, riding through beautiful countryside just outside the city. Along the way, we enjoyed the stunning rice fields, which are all lush green at this time. The farmers were busy working, so we could snap some great photos 😃 and here and there, a flat snake on the road added some excitement!
Day 3 was a full day: at 07:00 we were picked up from our hotel to start the day by feeding a herd of elephants. These elephants had to work hard for people in the past. Now they get to rest and are well taken care of. After feeding, we could help wash the elephants, but only if the elephants wanted to go into the water themselves. This was the case; three elephants were pampered, and Kayla & Kes had a fantastic time.
After all the cuddling, we enjoyed delicious pad thai and then set off for a pagoda. Due to the rainy season currently in this area, it was very wet and windy, but it didn't make it any less beautiful.
After some exploring, we got back on the bus and visited the largest waterfall in this region. I can't remember the name right now, something with the king... I'll look it up later 😁
Today was our last day here in Chiang Mai. Tomorrow we depart by minibus to Pai. The first week of the vacation is already over; it’s been a joy 🥰🇹🇭☀️🙌🏻
