Koh Kradan

Today, Thailand's national day is celebrated, which encompasses many things. It marks the old king's birthday, Father's Day, and something else. The first time Mulle and I were in Thailand, the beloved king’s passing and the country’s grief were a reality. This time, we coincided with the queen’s passing, which is, however, mourned with less modesty.

Mulle and I went for a morning walk and bought lunch sandwiches at Inas to take with us to the boat. School ends early on Fridays, so the kids do not have lunch.

We managed to meet another family heading to Phi Phi, and we shared a car to the pier.

However, we took the boat to Koh Kradan and simply stepped off into paradise. We even found the bar where we drank beer 10 years ago.

We booked a resort and got our room, which was cozy. Until we needed to use the bathroom. That door leads to an outdoor shower and outdoor toilet. However, it is a 'private' outdoor bathroom.

I have had nightmares since a classmate's mom showed a beautiful snake that was sitting in their ceiling molding on Koh Ngai, which was apparently highly poisonous!

Lawa took a dip in the pool as we felt warm after the trip, but then we packed up the snorkeling gear and walked towards the coral reefs.

Lawa was ready for her first snorkeling experience. We put on the equipment and looked down. Goodness! Everyone was there! I’m not joking; we saw 20 different species at first glance. Then we swam on and glided through a school of large fish about 30 cm long, we saw Nemo, we saw the rainbow fish, and we saw all the others! Absolutely magical!

We splashed around for a good while, but then the sun started to set, so we got out of the water happy.

We saw starfish that, perhaps, were mating as they lay on top of each other. We also got a picture of a pufferfish on the beach.

Mom and Dad had a Chang while Lawa took a relaxation break in the sun loungers.

We chose to eat at the hotel, and the food was fantastic, although Mulle received his meal long after the rest of us had finished eating. However, that’s not entirely unusual in Thailand, but it’s usually me who has to wait 😀

Lawa played on the beach while we waited for the food, and even while I waited for Mulle to eat.

There are plenty of swings to hang on, and Lawa found a 'Wrecking Ball' to swing on, so I had to play the song in the meantime. I heard some joyful laughter from the other guests.

You get to find your own board to paint on, which is then hung from the ceiling of the bar. Lawa searched, but couldn’t find a board. However, I found a bamboo tube that I thought might stand out a bit more fun. It was approved by the bartender.

Then it was time to go to bed so that we could manage to get up for the sunrise, which we usually cannot see since we live on the western side of Koh Lanta.
