12/29

Up and awake for the next adventure. This time we're heading to Koh Jum.

We had a hotel night the last time we were here that burned down, and since then Koh Jum has been on our list to visit.

The boat was delayed this morning, but fortunately, it only takes 20 minutes to get there.

We hired a tuk-tuk girl to take us to the other side, and then back home.

If we had known better, we would have rented scooters; the traffic was calm, and we would have had time to see a bit more.

Anyway, we got off at a breakfast restaurant and decided to arrange for a pickup from the same place. However, we changed our minds and took a walk along the main road instead. We managed to see both buffaloes and small chicks, and of course, plenty of dogs and cats.

Google led us to our first jungle adventure as we walked along a muddy path down to the beach. (And yes, before you think this isn't a proper jungle adventure, I want to emphasize that we live right in the center of Gothenburg, in the middle of concrete!!)

Google suggested we take another smaller path, but that was where we drew the line. We continued and then found a staircase down to the beach.

What a beautiful environment and beach. It's fantastic to leave the crowds on Koh Lanta and be down to under 10 people per square mile.

We found a breakfast spot with wonderful staff and just enjoyed the tranquility.

Lawa managed to both swing and fall off the swing before we grabbed our bag and went down to the water. It was a bit rocky, but that bodes well for snorkeling.

Mulle and I took turns going out to a small rocky island and got to see some lovely fish.

Then we needed to make our way to the beach where we were to be picked up, and this before the tide came in. So, we were in a bit of a hurry.

Once we reached the right beach, we swam a bit more and managed to find a shower with freshwater before we got dressed. I asked the tuk-tuk girl if she wanted to be paid for both the trip there and back upfront; she said it was up to me. I told her I trusted her, and indeed she was there exactly at the agreed time.

At the pier, we had a shake and enjoyed life. There was a scary swing at the far end that Lawa tried and thankfully managed to not fall into the water.

We jumped into the pool when we got home and managed to shower just before friends from Gothenburg arrived. So fun!

We had booked a table at Sabai Sabai for the evening and didn't quite know what to expect; we had only received recommendations from a class parent.

It was situated high on a hill, on the other side of the road and somewhere around Klong Khong. The hill up was really steep!

We got a bir, but they had also booked the lounge area for us, how sweet. There lay Lawa talking with a friend and playing Roblox with her all evening 😜

Good food and drink, and above all, the view and sunset.

We then took a quick trip home for a nightcap, but our guests seemed mostly eager to go to bed. Much respect to you for holding out, and hopefully, you'll wake up to Thai time tomorrow.
