Nitmiluk National Park

Our stay in Kakadu National Park came to an end today. After having breakfast and doing laundry for the first time, we headed towards Nitmiluk National Park. It took us about 1 and a half hours to leave the park. The first place we reached was Pine Creek. Pine Creek refers to itself as a historic site. From 1888 to 1913, gold and silver were mined there. However, the yield was always very low, so the mine was only in operation for 25 years. While the place is decent, it does feel a bit outdated. Everything appears old, and all the signs are faded. Our next stop was Edith Falls, which are part of Nitmiluk National Park. It is a beautiful area with a river called Edith. On a hill, there are several waterfalls with picturesque pools accessible by a lovely hike. Currently, swimming is not allowed in the lowest pool due to the presence of crocodiles. However, swimming is perfectly fine in the upper pools. The water is very pleasant and refreshing at the current 34°C. In the late afternoon, we arrived at the Nitmiluk National Park center, settled into our cabin, and cooled off in the pool.
