Kakadu National Park, Jabiru, Australia, Day 2

This morning we set off at 6:20 AM for a boat ride through the wetland 'Yellow Water'. Before sunrise, the light was naturally a bit limited for photography. For instance, the distant buffalo were difficult to capture sharply and unfortunately were gone again later.

However, the scenery was impressive. The water level is gradually receding, but the entire area is still teeming with life: birds, fish, crocodiles, turtles, and small mammals. There are even colonies of ducks that gather in their thousands on a sandbank and take off all at once. We were quite impressed. As the water continues to retreat, many animals crowd around the remaining waterholes while some enter a state of dormancy or rest.

After the boat ride, we first went to a lookout point. It looked exactly like how one imagines Australia. A kangaroo also hopped by, but unfortunately, it was too quick to photograph.

After this lookout, we headed to a rock formation known for its rock art that is up to 20,000 years old, which also has a viewpoint. These were very beautiful as well. Finally, we visited an exhibition that explains the culture of the Aborigines. It is better to refer to them now as First People, First Nations, or by the specific name of their respective ethnicity. The park, this exhibition, as well as our lodge, belongs to them and is operated by them. Consequently, the narratives and descriptions were also very authentic. Accordingly, we also purchased the usual T-shirt and table set.
