Kakadu National Park, Jabiru, Australia

Today we left the ship and said goodbye to many beloved people several times. After successfully passing the extreme Australian biosecurity check, we took an Uber to the airport. There, we picked up our car. A giant SUV that guzzles a lot of fuel. We estimate that it has a range of 600km, while our electric Jimmy can manage at least 800km in summer. The weather remains nice and warm (up to 34°C), but quite bearable. After a four-hour drive, we arrived at Kakadu National Park. The journey itself was not particularly varied. It was either a rather dry bush and forest landscape or wetlands.

In the visitor center of Kakadu National Park, we bought the park pass and were shown what to see. Already there, we were greeted by a pair of cockatoos.

After that, we checked into the park lodge. The lodge is, as one would expect from a lodge, quite simple, but okay. There are also hundreds of cockatoos living in the lodge. In the evening, they made a huge noise and flew around. Tomorrow we will go on our first excursion.
