The Fisherman's Way - Conclusion

After 12 stages, the Fisherman's Way is now behind us. 244 km with 4,555 meters of ascent and the same amount of descent. We started the route in Sines and walked along the Portuguese west coast heading south to Cape Saint Vincent, the southwesternmost point of Europe. The last kilometers took us along the Algarve until we reached Lagos. We saw and crossed countless coves. We walked many kilometers on sand, stone, and rubble. It was very demanding for both humans and equipment. We were lucky with the weather conditions; the first days were very warm with hardly any shade. After that, it fortunately got a bit cooler, and we only encountered one rain shower. It was a trail filled with many impressions and recurring views of the Pacific Ocean. A truly worthwhile long-distance hiking path, provided you have the necessary fitness.
