Iceland – here we come ...

After two days without sight of land, it was time to feel solid ground under our feet again.

With the two hours delay from Warnemünde, we dock in Akureyri around 12 o'clock local time (2 hours after German time). Before that, we had two hours on board to enjoy the entrance into Eyjafjördur Fjord, which ends in Akureyri. Even though there was a cool wind and the temperature didn't rise above 8 degrees Celsius, the passage was a real experience. Despite the low-hanging clouds, snowfields on the slopes could be clearly seen.

In this fjord, you could also book whale watching tours, and some tourists were out on the boats. We could also - free of charge - spot a whale.

Upon arriving at the harbor, our path led directly to the nearby Europcar container, where we wanted to pick up our reserved vehicle. We were expected, and we were given a Toyota Aygo, a car made entirely of sheet metal that you could hear when you slammed the door. Rarely have I heard that so clearly in the last few decades.
