2022 - November - Strasbourg Christmas Market

Published: 28.11.2022

Strasbourg calls itself the 'Capitale de Noël', which means the 'Christmas capital'. If you claim that, you have to deliver. And indeed: energy crisis or not, it still shines in the city center, as always.

Usually from the end of November until the 24th of December, tens of thousands of visitors flock to the various locations in the city center, especially in the evening hours. And since Strasbourg is located directly on the German border, many of my fellow countrymen are among them.

Basically, it doesn't matter where you start your visit, just let yourself go with the flow. Eventually, you will surely arrive at Place Kléber, where there is always a festively decorated 30-meter-high Christmas tree that catches the eye.

If you want something even more historical, head to the Christkindelsmärik on Place Broglie. This location has hosted a Christmas market since 1570.

But the charming district of Petite France also has a lovely Christmas market. And almost forgot: you should definitely visit the Munster Cathedral. In addition to its massive structure, you will find plenty of Christmas atmosphere here.

After these enthusiastic words, I'm sure you've already marked a date on your calendar to come here. Don't forget to book a hotel room in advance.

For budget-conscious travelers, there is a cheaper option in the nearby German town of Kehl. From here, there is a tram that goes directly to Strasbourg every 10 minutes. The journey from Kehl to the Christmas market takes about 30 minutes.
