Eppaner High Trail

The day started today with a dreamy view from the bedroom window as the sun was just rising. Then, the sound of church bells added to the atmosphere, and we were ready for the day!

We were also ready for breakfast, but the fridge didn't have much to offer. Luckily, the Peter Paul bakery (shoutout to my dear colleague of the same name in Munich!) offers not only the most delicious cakes and pastries around but also a hearty breakfast. Outside, it was a bit too chilly at around 16 degrees for us, and the indoor ambiance wasn't especially remarkable, sharing our table with the house cat, but the breakfast was outstanding! So plentiful that we were actually full until dinner. Of course, we still had a piece of cake that Michael picked up that afternoon.

After the feast, we were in the mood for some exercise and took a walk along the vineyard trail in the opposite direction. Everything looks quite different that way! A market was taking place in the village today, but current autumn fashion wasn’t what we needed! Instead, we went to the organic bakery and got some fresh bread. Once we got home, we quickly jumped in the car and did a big shop at MPreis, forgetting a few things, of course. Well, it won’t be the last shopping trip! 🛒

In the early afternoon, we enjoyed the delicious cake (for me a chestnut heart and for Michael a cheesecake with a sponge roll on top - but we were good and each took just half a piece, the rest is for tomorrow! 😇) and then we drove to the Eppaner High Trail, where we took a leisurely walk. Not too strenuous! Where would we end up otherwise…

Since we are on vacation and being lazy is part of it, I laid down on the terrace and read the newspaper. Michael bravely did his back exercises. When he goes to rehab in October, he will be the fittest one there! And hopefully finally pain-free afterward…

Dinner also took place on the terrace, featuring a delicious South Tyrolean snack with the same dreamy view as in the morning. Now a glass of wine and some snacks are coming to the table, and we are winding down the day, looking forward to the next one!
