From Lechtingen to Herford

The good news first. Today we stayed dry. And it was so warm that we could complete the majority of the route in minimum clothing (t-shirt and shorts). First, we rode on my old school route to Osnabrück, passing by the former Coca-Cola factory where I lived in a factory apartment for 8 years. Then we went straight to the cathedral. Unfortunately, it couldn't be fully appreciated as there was a fair, including a large Ferris wheel, set up in the square. I don't remember such a thing happening during my school years. Right next to the cathedral is my old school, the Gymnasium Carolinum. We briefly went into the courtyard where I took some photos. After a short time, we were approached by a younger teacher asking what we were doing there. My response that it used to be a school didn't please him. After all, it was a big break time. But we left anyway. Afterwards, we were at the marketplace where the Town Hall of the Westphalian Peace is located. Here too, there was a large carousel, which made the overall impression quite negative. On the way to Herford, we also visited the bifurcation. For those who don't know, a true bifurcation is when a river splits and the two parts flow into different waters. It's supposed to be relatively rare, but it's the case here because near Gesmold, the Hase and the Else split, with the Hase ultimately flowing into the Ems and the Else into the Weser.
