Arrived
Arrived! This has been our longest journey so far: we traveled for 22 hours. Here it is warm and light until around 9 PM - just summer ;-) Santiago de Chile is just as we...

This afternoon we returned to Santiago. Passing through wine-growing regions and across (relatively small) mountains.
The bus connections here in Chile, as well as in Peru, are safe and incredibly punctual. The buses themselves are very comfortable with plenty of legroom. It's a great way to travel. We are already looking forward to our 2 journeys in Patagonia.
A few words about the time difference: Chile has switched to daylight saving time from September to April while Germany is in standard time. Conclusion: We only set the clock back by 4 hours instead of 6 hours, which would be the case during our summer and their winter time.
Today we had a traditional Chilean dish at the fish market: Pastel de jaiba con cameron = crab meat pie with scampi. As in Peru, the food here is fantastic.
Otherwise, we tried out the metro and strolled through the city.
Tomorrow we are heading to Puerto Montt, to the Chilean Lake District. We will stay there for 5 days and hope for great excursions and beautiful pictures ;-)
