Today we had a leisurely sleep-in. Departing at 10:30, we traveled back over Rio Grande and San Sebastian, crossing the border into Porvenir, Chile. From here, we will take the ferry across the Strait of Magellan to Punta Arenas tomorrow. On our way from Ushuaia to Rio Grande, we were hit by a cold front, with snow and temperatures at 1 degree Celsius, right in the middle of summer in Tierra del Fuego...🤷 At the 'Paso Garibaldi', it finally stopped snowing. Good thing too, because my trusty Peugeot was, of course, not equipped with winter tires (okay, you never need those in Santiago de Chile either,🤣). During our nearly 6-hour drive to our destination, we briefly witnessed a natural spectacle near Rio Grande on the Atlantic coast - under bright sunshine, a storm front formed over the sea - magnificent!

Then at 20:45, we arrived in Porvenir - a never-ending storm! I am well acquainted with wind and storms from the North Sea coast in Zeeland. But here, it's on a whole other level... We asked a local man where we could eat well. He didn't hesitate and drove us in his car to the restaurant 'Anclamar' - a good piece of beef from the back along with some Austral beer and especially Pisco Sour - one is satisfied!

Time for bed at 23:30 - Buenas Noches
