Friday, we have been on the road for a week today. So far, everything has gone as we imagined and planned.
You can't plan the weather, and this morning at departure, it was 2 degrees. A bit chilly for May 23rd, we would say! Additionally, we should expect rain near the Alps.
And so it happened that we had to squeeze into our rain gear for the first time. They have been with us for 15 years and seem to have shrunk somehow. ;-)
We took a lunch break in a small forest area. Such a forest has many advantages because you can accomplish several tasks there.
Rejuvenated, we continued on to Benediktbeuern. We made a brief stop at the Kretzenhof. I had vacation there twice with my parents and once with my grandpa. I was about 11 years old at the time, and Florian Bacher, the son of Kretzenhof, was 9 years old. When researching accommodations in Benediktbeuern, we actually wanted to stay at the Kretzenhof, but I had to realize that Florian has already passed away.
So we ended up not far from Kretzenhof at the Gasthof zur Post in a very nice room. However, it is also the most expensive of our trip.
We treated ourselves to a fried onion roast in the rustic dining room, which was excellent!
Tomorrow, after a decent breakfast, we will continue to Völlan, near Meran, where we will stay for three nights.
Weather? Yes, we'll take it as it comes!
